The Uri Institute Cultures of the Alps is financed by the Canton of Uri, the Dätwyler Foundation, the Corporation of Uri and the Corporation of Ursern. All donors guarantee the freedom of scientific research by supporting the institute through the Uri Science Foundation, which is anchored in the canton. The Foundation Board is made up of Ruth Wipfli Steinegger (President), Dr. Ivo Schillig (Vice President), Hans-Rudolf Schurter, Kurt Schuler (as representative of the Corporation of Uri) and Carolin Mazzolini-Regli (as representative of the Corporation of Urseren).


Vice President of the Foundation Board
Ivo Schillig is a delegate of the foundation board and managing director of the Alpine Energy Research Center AlpEnForCe in Disentis, as well as a lecturer at the University of St. Gallen. Since early 2023, he has been a member of the cantonal council of Uri and a member of the canton's finance committee. Ivo Schillig is president of Wirtschaft Uri, the umbrella organization of Uri's business associations.

Foundation Board
After studying law and qualifying as a lawyer, Hans-Rudolf Schurter spent 10 years in the financial industry before returning to the long-established Lucerne-based technology company SCHURTER, where he served as CEO for many years and most recently as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Today, he is still Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cyrmont AG in Lucerne and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Sonnenberg Foundation in Baar, among other positions. He also served for many years as a member of the Board of Directors of Luzerner Kantonalbank and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company and the KKL Luzern operating company.

Carolin Mazzolini-Regli is a trained farmer and has been the manager of an agricultural business in Andermatt since 2015. She has spent many summers as an alpine dairymaid and shepherdess on various alpine pastures. Since 2019, she has been the municipal clerk of the municipality of Göschenen, and since 2020 she has served as a member of the board of directors of the Ursern power station and as a member of the board of trustees of the Ursern senior citizens' and health center. In the Ursern Corporation's valley council, she is responsible for culture and social affairs.
