"NUTZEN, BENUTZEN, HEGEN, PFLEGEN"

"NUTZEN, BENUTZEN, HEGEN, PFLEGEN"

Since 2022, the online magazine Syntopia Alpina has been providing impetus with weekly articles on sustainability topics. The printed book now takes an in-depth look at these initiatives. Authors from science and practice shed light on the qualities of sustainability in the interplay between agriculture, forestry and the energy industry, as well as tourism, housing and local crafts. They are guided by the concepts of "use", "utilization", "care" and "nurturing", linking them to Alpine-specific actions that could serve as a model for the planetary biosphere.

With photographs by Marco Volken and contributions by Loredana Bevilacqua, Annina Boogen, Thomas Egger, Elisa Frank, Köbi Gantenbein, Kurt Gritsch, Wilfried Häberli, Nikolaus Heinzer, Roman Hüppi, Elisabeth Joris, Sibylle Lustenberger, Andrea Meier, Eva-Maria Müller, Roland Norer, Boris Previšić, Michel Roth, Daniel Speich, Andreas Weissen, Ariane Zangger.

The Institute is organizing a small tour with the following book presentations:

08.11.2023, 18.30 Uhr, Alpines Museum der Schweiz, Helvetiaplatz 4, Bern
12.11.2023, 14.00 Uhr, BergBuchBrig, Zeughaus Kultur, Gliserallee 91, Brig-Glis

Anker's book of the week
"The articles are finely, skillfully and surprisingly illustrated with photos by Marco Volken. The book, printed in Dallenwil NW - brochure with flaps - also feels good in the hand. At 390 grams, it is perhaps a little heavy to carry around in a rucksack. But isn't swimming nicer than hiking anyway? Why not in the Uri region? There is a bathing area at the Reussdeltaturm and two cable cars run to the Arnisee with its bathing facilities. What are we still waiting for? For example, many new articles from the Uri Cultures of the Alps Institute. They can also be found and read in its online magazine 'Syntopia Alpina'."

The book can be ordered here.
